Review: ‘Tuff Scent’ Scented Nail Polish

For those of you who love to have pretty polished nails but hate the smell nail polish leaves behind, I have wonderful news. ‘Tuff Scent’ scented nail polish has been relaunched, adding 20 new colors and scents to the line.

The idea for ‘Tuff Scent’ came to Lisa Arnbrister, who founded the original line in 1996, when her young daughter colored her nails with scented markers. 15 years later, her daughter Sylvana is now grown and the two have come together to relaunch ‘Tuff Scent.’

I was kindly sent three polishes from ‘Tuff Scent’ that came in the most adorable bottles. With tops in the shapes of silver roses, the name of each polish on the back of the bottle and a few words relating to the name of the polish on the bottle, I was already smitten. With packaging that cute, I was even more excited to try the polish.

I started out with ‘Kiss,’ which according to the back of the bottle is a symbol of love and kindness. It was definitely a symbol of love for me because the color was perfect for fall and the cinnamon smell (once I read the bottle and realized the scent is released as the polish dries, not right when you open the bottle) was authentic and amazing. The polish goes on easily but since I like my polish to be pretty opaque, I put on three coats. This gave me a kind of mocha color with a gold shimmer, which has definitely become a favorite of mine.

Next was ‘Confidence,’ which is the perfect name for this deep red polish. For this one I only needed two coats to make the color as rich as I wanted it to be. I couldn’t get enough of its delicious cranberry scent or how easy it was to apply. The picture here appears to be more of a pink, but trust me when I tell you it’s actually THE perfect shade of red for fall.

The last polish, ‘Laughter,’ is a mix of purple and red, but it is more of a red. Although I loved the way this color looked once I was done applying it, it is not for someone who is in rush. It took me four coats to make this color not appear streaky. Since I loved the color and the blackberry scent so much, the time it took to do four coats was worth it but it’s not the color to choose if you’re short on time!

‘Tuff Scent’ polishes are retailed at $14.00 and can be found at and
