Hot Off The Stereo – This Week’s Freshest Tracks
As the onslaught of autumn starts to creep in, fashion week rides into Milan and we swap our summer frocks for winter woollens, there’ll always be hot new tunes to keep us warm! Chapel Club – All The Eastern Girls One of our favourite bands at the moment, this is getting repeat plays at ASOS HQ thanks to their gloomily delicious quality (yum yum). By the time lead singer Lewis Bowman cries ‘this is a love song’ in All The Eastern Girls’ bittersweet crescendo, you’ll be jumping around the room like you’ve just stuck your hand in a plug socket. Cheryl Cole – Promise This Possibly the busiest woman on the planet right now – in between X-Factor, Vogue covers and recovering from malaria – quite frankly, we’re in awe that Cheryl has still managed to record a second solo album AND continue looking this immaculate. Here’s the video for first single ‘Promises’ which mashes up house, tribal and pop with an operatic look that sees her in elegant balletic mode. Starsmith – Give Me a BreakEllie Goulding’s mate and producer/writer/remixer extraordinaire steps out from behind the sound desk for his first single, where he’s asking us to give him a break. And seeing as he’s done a right stonker of a tune and accompanied it with one of those stop motion videos we’re so fond of – we’ll cut him some slack. In fact, we’ll even throw in two thumbs up and a cheesy smile. Well done. Talay Riley – HumanoidThemes of robots and humans are running rife through pop this year – what with Janelle Monae’s ArchAndroid and Monarchy’s obsession with all things robotic. Now new urban artist Talay Riley puts in his two cents with Humanoid. Borrowing Taio Cruz’s shades and backing thumps, UK boy Talay produces an epic sound with a larger than life quality. We’re expecting BIG ROBOTIC THINGS from this boy. Professor Green – Monster Bringing in the talents of Example, Pro Green turns all evil on us in this haunted house themed video with a whole Heat mag’s worth of pop culture references – from ‘a Sugababe’ (which one we wonder?), Pixie Lott and even Peter Andre. We’re just trying to work out if that really is a peed off Pixie with a pint of milk in hand and when the retort single from poor old Pete will be out…
